In the car today, Josiah told me that there is going to be another baby in my belly.

I assured him that there is not, and that Elwin was probably the last baby in our family, and he replied, "No, there's going to be one more baby in your belly."

At this point I started thinking that maybe he was a little prophetic, until he said," And it's going to be a purple one!!"

Today, I am thankful for...

...boys sleeping at the same time in the backseat of my car, which led to an unexpected coffee break in the driveway for me!

...chubby cheeks that smile when kissed.

...a house that was way too crowded for Josiah's birthday. It reminded me of how blessed we are to be surrounded by too many wonderful people who love us and our kids.

...a washer and dryer that never seem to have a break!

...the opportunity to meet some needs around us.

...being organized (and a father-in-law who is always willing to fix and assemble...and a cousin who builds beautiful things for my home!).

...rain, which has forced me to clean and sort inside.

...my husband, who helps and supports me in so many ways.

...the chance to exercise and swim lots, and that I can do all of these things again.

...good friends who give, love, listen, and support at all the right times.

...Josiah's care and concern for others. It touches my heart and makes me feel like there is hope beyond the demands and tantrums of toddlerhood.

...my mom, who gives endlessly and selflessly to my family.

...prayer. It is the only thing that brings comfort when I feel helpless and heartbroken for loved ones who are struggling.

...the grace of God that I need so desperately each and every day!

Elwin is 3 months old today!

He is growing stronger every day, although he is not a fan of tummy-time! He does not seem to be in much of a hurry to move yet either!

Last week, Elwin weighed in at 15 pounds/9 ounces, and measured twenty-six inches long. He is in the 97th percentile, the same as Josiah was. The health issue I had been concerned about turned out to be nothing (thankfully!).

His personality is starting to shine through. Elwin has lots of smiles and lots to say, if you take the time to listen. He is often quiet with others, and makes the most noise with us, or when he is all by himself. He loves holding hands, and has starting reaching out to grab things. Elwin doesn't complain much, but when he really isn't happy he lets us know. He has the sweetest cry and pout ever!

Elwin has a few favorite songs, and loves to be bounced while you sing. He has a little Winnie-the-Pooh toy that really gets him talking! He seems to enjoy the water, and kicks his feet when he sees the pool!

Although Elwin has slept through the night a couple of times, he usually gets up once to eat. Lately, he has been taking less in at night, so I am hoping that he is beginning to phase out this feeding! Elwin sucks his thumb, which is the cutest thing ever! He does it very loudly and furiously. He prefers this to a soother.

Lately, I have been...

...enjoying these sunny days! Since I missed most of summer this year, I am so thankful for the warmth now.

...looking forward to all of our fall activities starting up again.

...finding myself at home s lot. Life with two kids feels more isolating than just one. Sometimes I feel jealous when I see a new mom with just one baby in one stroller because it seemed so much easier to plan things and get out of the house with just one kid!

...starting to read "Becoming a Woman of Simplicity" by Cynthia Heald.

...warring with a toddler over potty training, and many other issues, and wishing most days that I was doing a better job.

...longing for a bigger space. This is something I try not to think about or complain about too often (although I do!), but it is very challenging, and I continue to find it hard to make peace with where we are at right now.

...enjoying some new clothes and accessories I bought with birthday money!

...feeling frustrated with my weight loss start, but am committed to see this through.

...sorting endless piles of clothes. How can keeping two kids in appropriate sizes and seasons be so difficult?!

...cleaning. I have never caught up from before having Elwin. I would love to have a whole day at home by myself to clean and organize. So...I'll probably be feeling behind and unorganized for at least another few years!

...waiting on God for some answers.

...worrying about a health issue that Elwin is being checked for.

...wondering when I will work outside the home again and what that will look like.

...taking the boys out for lots of walks and to parks.

...planning for Josiah's 3rd birthday party. How can he be turning 3?!

...feeling excited about a new niece/nephew being born next month!

Sometimes I can't believe how much busier I am with two kids! One day blends into another, and I have a hard time keeping track of things or blogging regularly.

Lots of people have asked how I am adjusting, and how Elwin is doing, so I thought I'd share some details.

Elwin is a really good sleeper. He sleeps through almost any type of noise! He usually goes to bed around 7:30 and gets up around 2:00 a.m. to eat, and then sleeps until around 6:00. He naps several times during the day, and usually for a fairly long time in the afternoons. Although his sleep is not always predictable during the day, he is starting to repeat similar patterns.

Elwin usually eats every three or four hours, and he's growing fast! He is wearing mostly size 3-6 month clothing and size 2 diapers. His feet are finally big enough to hold some cute little shoes! I wish I could tell you how much he weighs, but we haven't been to the doctor's office for a while.

Overall, he is a delightful baby! He has a sweet little smile, and usually only complains when he needs something. He is starting to enjoy toys, and is beginning to reach his hands out to grab for things. He also seems to love being outdoors, and a long walk in the stroller is sure to put him to sleep. Elwin continues to be very cuddly, and is starting to want to hold hands and reach out for faces.

Josiah continues to be an amazing big brother. He always asks to hold Elwin or feed him, and he helps me bath him too. We had a problem the other day when Josiah tried to pick Elwin up without asking, which resulted in a tumble and some cries for Elwin! But he is learning quickly. I think he is anxious for Elwin to be big enough to play with him, but right now Josiah is thrilled with how willing Elwin is to share his toys!

Goals

Well, I am feeling much better nine weeks after my c-section.

So, that time has come...to lose the dreaded baby weight.

I'm only a few pounds away from losing my 'Elwin' weight, as I didn't gain a lot for him. However, my 'Josiah' bulges linger, and it's time. Chris is planning to lose his baby weight too!

You can follow our journey as we move the tickers on the side-bar, and I'll try to give updates once in a while. Also feel free to ask us how we are doing with this anytime.

We aren't planning anything extreme. Just trying to eventually get there one pound at a time. If you think of it, we'd love to have your prayer support as we work through this- thanks!
