Camping Adventures

A summary of our camping trip:

The truck was very full (we may need a roof rack for next year!), and Josiah got buried before we left the city:



He was excited to get to the campsite and 'help' with set up:



I have a stash of 'new to Josiah' cars/trucks that are saved for occasions such as this (when we need to distract him):




He loved playing around the sight and walking to the park:



After supper we walked around the docks and saw some neat boats (but the camera stayed in the truck):



Then we came 'home' for a campfire. The whole time we were driving, Josiah kept saying, "home please." It was kind of sad!



Things were going well, until we tried to get Josiah to sleep. From 7:30 until midnight we fought. The more we struggled, the more excited he got.

We stayed at a campground we don't normally visit, but thought it would be warmer than our usual place. It was, but with that came a lot of noise that didn't help the sleeping. It's okay, because payback for our neighbours came in the form of howling every twenty minutes all night long. We felt quite badly for many of the people around us.

It also poured. Josiah decided to get up at 5:50 regardless of the little amount of sleep he (or we) had the night before. That's when we decided to pack it all in. He was full of tantrums up to and including the drive home.

He made up for the sleep quickly after we hit the road. I'm not sure that we have ever seen him this tired before (he looked a bit hung over!)



And that concludes the adventures of Josiah's second camping trip (last summer went much more smoothly!). Here's to hoping that next time is a bit better. You just never know what's coming with a toddler. Later that day, he asked if we could go camping again...we told him that mommy and daddy needed a break first (a very long break!).
